The small underwater drone Dory of the Chasing brand has won this "oscar" for industrial design. The innovative design, the creative technology and the new functionalities have contributed to this. The drone is small and easy to transport in a backpack. Wi-Fi Buoy connection with smartphone or tablet

Just use your own smartphone or tablet with a special app to control the Dory. The app connects with the buoy. The underwater drone is connected to the floating buoy with a 15-meter cable. You can use the app to control the drone and dive to a maximum of 15 meters. You can tilt the drone 45 degrees under water, so you can film towards the surface of the water. Tilt the drone down 45% if you want to see the bottom. Do you want to move the drone move at a set depth? You can also set that in the app. Operation is very easy. It is recommended to use the Dory in calm water. Plug, splash and play!

Imaging

The Dory has two built-in lamps of 250 lumens each for illuminating your images. The color temperature is 4500-5000k. You can shoot in FHD (1920x1080 30fps MP4). But of course you can also take photos with this drone (resolution 2MP, 1920x1080 JPG). Do you want some special effects in your mages? That is possible with one of the 19 image filters and a simple video editing option.

The buoy

The buoy is also small: 130 x 130 x 88 mm and weighs 160 grams. The maximum WiFi range is 15 meters. If desired, a safety cord can be attached to the buoy. (Such a cord is included with the optional backpack.)

Co-play

Tested ourselves

Of course were curious and tried the Dory ourselves. Excellent image quality with beautiful colors. The photos do not have a high resolution, but are still sharp and clear. The WiFi range seems to be larger than 15 meters. Together with the 15 meter cable you can easily get 25 meters far. The co-function (with 2 smartphones control) also worked great. If the connection is lost (WiFi switched off on the smartphone), the drone will rise slowly. That seems to be programmed that way. Using the safety cord to get the drone back can be a nice idea. That cord comes with the backpack. Transferring images to the phone works smooth and fast. You can format the built-in memory card via the app.

Further and deeper?

Is 15 meters deep and far not enough? The big brother of Dory is called the Gladius MINI 4K underwater drone. Max. depth is 100 meters deep (and 100 m far). This drone is connected via cable to the on-shore base station. The base station provides the connection to the controller and your smartphone. This drone also offers 4k video and more powerful lamps (each 1200 lumens) that are continuously dimmable. The batterytime of that drone is 2 hours. So the Gladius MINI offers several extras.
